This is wonderful to hear, Chris! I have a few more recipes using stick rice. Have a look if you’d like to try. One-Pork Stick Rice with Sausage, Stick Rice Chicken, Stuffed Sticky Rice Rolls and Stick Rice Dumplings.

My very first experience with sticky rice! These are so delicious! I’m always willing to try new things, but wasn’t sure how I felt about making these. I had to buy a 5 lb bag of sticky rice for a dessert I am making and searched what to do with the rest. I landed on your recipe and I am so happy I did! I will definetly make these again. Thanks!

What a lovely idea! Yes, it should work as long as the rice balls are still steamed in a single layer.

Would they stay together? I would use carrot sliver for nose and black sesame seeds for eyes and buttons. Nori for scarf. Not sure about a hat yet. Or if a more traditional rice ball would be wiser.

My rice is soaking. Can’t wait to steam these delicious looking rice balls later today. After reading other comments, I’m so grateful all the ingredients are very available where I live. I’m using your sweet and sour ribs recipe today as well. Thank you for sharing your recipes.

I haven’t made this recipe using other types of rice. But I don’t think basmati rice would work. Regular short grain rice might work. But the final taste/texture would be different.

One problem I have ( I live on the Greek island of Corfu ) is finding glutinous rice .I usually use Basmati . Would this recipe work out if I used any short grain rice ? Many Thanks .
