So glad you enjoyed it. The full amount of dark soy can feel like a lot, but it really does balance out in the dish. Thanks for trusting the recipe and sharing your experience.

This was delicious! And it was very different from all my other Chinese recipes.
It seemed like 2 T of dark soy was too much, so I added it a little at a time. Wei Guo was right! I used end up using all of it.
Thank you Wei Guo.

Love hearing this! The mushroom and onion additions sound perfect, and I’m glad the sauce hit the spot.

Followed the recipe and added slice fresh mushroom with the sauce and 1/2 a white onion with the peppers. The garlic seems to disappear and the ginger is really tempered. The sauce over rice is a sumptuous mouth feel. So good I overate but so what!

So glad you loved it, Paul! Garlic, Thai basil, and Shaoxing wine really are a magical combo—happy to hear it hit the spot!

Hi Wei,

Absolutely love this one…I am a Garlic fiend!
The Thai Basil really lifts the flavours and the Shaoxing Wine in such a quantity gives a depth of flavour that really makes this dish so moreish!

Thankyou,

Paul:-)
